I am very thrilled to announce that I am hosting a beer and food pairing event at The Underground Tap and Grill on November 29. This is particularly exciting because it is my first in-person event since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. I took great pleasure in my regular beer tasting and education nights at various locations in Edmonton, and it has been a difficult couple years without them. But I can say, I am back, baby!
The evening will celebrate some of Alberta’s best beer. I have curated a list of 5 medal-winning beer from the 2022 Alberta Beer Awards (find the full results here so you can start guessing which ones I picked), which are being paired with four tasting-sized courses exclusively designed for the evening by Underground’s executive chef, Lang Hsaio. From previous incarnations of this event I can personally attest that he does a stunning job of designing creative dishes that bring out the best in the beer.
You can get details of and tickets for the event here.
I appreciate people have differing levels of comfort at doing in-person events right now. I spent a lot of time thinking about whether I should do this now or wait. I want to be as responsible as possible, but decided that this relatively small event (seating is limited), it is on a quiet night for the Underground so there won’t be a lot of other customers and we will do our best to follow best practices. If you are not ready yet, I completely respect that choice and hope to see you at another event soon.
If you are feeling comfortable, please consider coming. It will be fun. And it will feel great to talk about beer to people in the same room for the first time in over two years.
