How about a few moments of (partial) self-promotion? Most of you know about Edmonton Beer Geeks Anonymous, the monthly beer education and appreciation club that has quickly become a local staple among beer fans and the beer curious. Each month they offer an interesting guest speaker, some interesting beer to sample and generally appreciate beer. Well this month, yours truly is their featured guest speaker. The meeting is tomorrow, Tuesday March 27 at 7:30 pm at the Wunderbar.
They have asked me to speak about my take on the Edmonton beer scene – where we were a few years ago, where we are now and where I think we might be heading. Edmonton has seen lots of change in the last five or six years that I have been writing and commenting on beer in my hometown (and elsewehere). I will also happily take any and all questions on the topic of beer.
As an added bonus, the meeting will feature 2 kegs from Mikkeller, offered as an exclusive to the Geeks: It’s Alive and Citra IPA. That should be a yummy way to take in whatever ramblings I will put on offer (or maybe a good way to drown me out…).
I hope to see you there.

Wish I could be there 🙁 I still need to visit Edmonton again, if only to check out Wunderbar and see how things have changed over the years! You have done so much for the beer scene. Congrats to you!

Yes, unless unforseen circumstances get in the way, I’ll see you there Jason.. Looking forward to both your ‘ramblings’ & the Mikkeller.

Enjoyed your ‘ramblings’ Jason & the Citra IPA as well.. Shane poured me a small sample as they were setting up. It was room temp. & good although reasonably unimpressive, but I was sipping a Bitter Truth, so I gladly went back to that. After finishing the ESB, I asked for a Citra – only about 3 or 4 degrees colder, but much better!
