After some unintended delays, the latest in Yukon Brewing‘s playful A.D.D. Series will be on Alberta store shelves in the (Saint) Nick of time for Xmas. The second release in the series is a Spiced Winter Ale, so it will go perfectly with your seasonal festivities.
The A.D.D. series is a bit of an experiment for Yukon. A line of one-time releases, packaged in a tube box. It gives the Yukon brewers a chance to play a little bit and experiment with ingredients and styles. The first beer in the line was a Birch Marzen. This second is more traditional, in terms of being a spiced winter beer, but is still quite different from their regular line of beer.
I particularly enjoy the packaging in the series – a series of sketches and scribbles that look like the rough product of a brainstorming session. It is quite fun to read the fine print. The tube box highlights that this is not your usual Yukon beer. The combination is effective.
I am told the third in the series will be a Double IPA. I am not sure when it will be out – likely March or April is my guess. Looking forward to that one as well. The Spiced Winter Ale will be in a few stores by tomorrow (Saturday – I really mean it is here in the nick of time), with wider distribution in the week between Xmas and New Year’s.

I have mine coming in tomorrow morning, along with Half Pints Demeter’s Harvest, so apparently, Christmas Eve has been saved.

Will have to look for the Winter Spice. Bought the first one nearly a month ago cause I just loved the packaging. It reminds one of someone you and I know who has a habit a sneaking cans of (good) beer into music festivals hidden inside Pringles tube containers. Now she can use these and see if the half-asleep gate attendants notice.
I was a little disappointed it was a single inside the tube — thought it would be a big bottle.

Quite enjoyed the Birch Marzen, so am looking forward to the Winter Spice(hopefully later this evening. Had a couple great seasonals just awhile ago – Paddock Wood’s Winter Ale(nice malty plum), then Ambers’-exclusive to The Pourhouse-‘Cranberry Sauced’, Cranberry Ginger Christmas Cooler. Not All that unlike Alley Kat’s Cringer. But Very nice as a cooler & quite seasonal too I thought.
