And a little more beer news for you folks.

New Saskatoon Brewpub: The big story is that a new brewpub is on the verge of opening in Saskatoon! Chloe Smith and Cédric Dauchot are putting together the financing to allow them to open Shiny Penny Brewery. They are looking for an appropriate space to build the pub and are pulling together brewing equipment. To tide themselves over – and to hopefully draw some investor interest – they brewed a beer at Paddock Wood. It is a Witbier called Saskatchewan Wheat Ale. I received a bottle of it but have not yet had a chance to try it. I will post when I get around to cracking it open.

Wild Rose Saison: The launch of Wild Rose’s latest seasonal will be this Friday, July 30, at 4:00 pm at the Wild Rose Taproom. They will tap a cask-conditioned version of the beer as a special treat to those who are smart enough to be hanging around the taproom around that time. The beer will be a keg-only offering, so folks in Edmonton and other parts north are unlikely to see any of it. In other Wild Rose news, their next seasonal will be Royal 100, to commemorate the centennial of Mount Royal University. Details TBA.

Half Pints Rigamarole Rye: The long-awaited oak-aged Rigamarole Rye will finally be released on August 7 at 9 am at the brewery. Get up early, kids, because this beer won’t last long!

That is all for now. Check back for more breaking beer news in the near future…
