My good friends at the CBC Radioactive are a busy lot. It takes a lot to put a 3-hour show on five days a week, often short-handed (especially in the summer). So, I understand that a bi-weekly beer column may not always sit at the top of the priority list. Which is to explain that sometimes they fall behind a bit on posting my columns on their website. Through June they didn’t get around to putting up my columns. They went on air live as usual, but just didn’t make it to the e-ternal storage. I understand. However, they always, in the end, deliver. As they did this week, posting the missing columns in one go.

So, here is a quick round up for those of you who missed the original airing:

June 14: Yellowhead Brewing. In this column I focussed on the arrival of Yellowhead Brewing in town – what they are about and a short review of the beer. Regular readers of Onbeer.org will have read my initial review, but in the column I get to explore the origins of the brewery, its separation from the defunct Maverick, and where they hope to go with it. Plus, as usual, I give Peter a sample. Here is the MP3 of the column.

June 28: Danish Invasion. This was a column that arose out of a strange coincidence – two different Danish craft brewers hit Alberta store shelves at the same time. Denmark? Not my first thought for a brewing powerhouse. However, Bryghus Raasted and Mikkeller are now both available on the prairies (I know in Alberta and Saskatchewan for sure). I have posted on both of these breweries briefly (and did a Vue Column on Mikkeller recently), but used the column as an opportunity to talk about the context in which both of these breweries have become noteworthy. It is a lesson to us all about how quickly a region can embrace good beer. Listen to the CBC Column here.
