Just a quick reminder that next Thursday (June 3) is the Cantillon tasting and food pairing evening at Gini’s Restaurant. Tickets are selling fast, so if you are thinking of attending I would suggest heading over to Sherbrooke Liquor soon to purchase yours. Tickets are $50 each, and will include samples from 5 Cantillon lambics, and four selections of gourmet cuisine to pair.

To answer a few questions that have been posed about the evening, it will be a small, informal event. It is not a full dinner as the portions will be taste size, as will the Cantillon samples. I will talk a bit about lambic beer, its history and how it is made, and will relate some stories of my 2007 visit with the owner/brewmaster of Cantillon. There will, of course, be time to visit and chat – as any good beer event should.

For those of you new to lambic, here is the link to my original post about the event, where I describe and explain a little bit about the style and Cantillon.

I am looking forward to the event, as it is the first chance to teach Edmontonians about the strange and fascinated sour beer of Belgium. Hope to see you there!
