Calgary’s craft breweries are banding together for a fundraiser to aid flood relief efforts in southern Alberta. Big Rock, who spearheaded the idea, is partnering with Village Brewing and Wild Rose Brewing to serve up some beer, raise spirits and gather some much need donations to the Canadian Red Cross relief efforts.
The breweries will be serving $5 pints of beer, proceeds of which will be donated to the Red Cross. Brew Brothers and newcomer Tool Shed Brewing will also be helping out but not serving beer – the former because of power shortage issues in downtown Calgary and the latter because they don’t have any beer ready yet.
Suds for Floods goes tomorrow night (July 3) at Telus Spark (which is the Science Centre in Calgary) at 6:00. Suggested donation for entry is $10 or a donation to the food bank. Capacity is limited, so go early, and bring your wallet as the event will be cash only.
This has been a trying time, to say the least, in southern Alberta. Thumbs up to Calgary’s craft breweries for finding a way to help out a little bit.
