Flashing the Hops

I have grown a bit hop-tired in recent months. I find myself gravitating more and more to maltier beer or to beer that offer a nice balance between hops and other qualities. Don’t get me wrong – I am not… Continue Reading →

How a Dark Lager Should Be Done

Still working through the beer my friend brought back from Europe. She did a great job of identifying some excellent, hard-to-find beer for me. The latest sampling is Kulmbacher Mönchshof Schwarzbier, a mouthful of a name that actually represents a… Continue Reading →

More on Bierbrier

Beering it Up in the Burbs

The Capital Region suburbs seem to be the place to be over the next couple of weeks, as there are a couple of different food and beverage festivals happening. I though a quick note on them might be useful. Tonight… Continue Reading →

Where Does Beer Come From?

A reader of this website was in Red Deer recently and stopped in at a new restaurant, State and Main (which also has a location in Lethbridge and soon in Winnipeg and Saskatoon). Having not been there myself, I am… Continue Reading →
