Oak-aged beer are becoming quite the rage these days. I can see why, as the wood and remnants of whiskey add a rich complexity to the beer. From the mainstream Innis & Gunn to the intense Ola Dubh series, there is now quite a range of barrel-aged beer available in Alberta. In addition, the wood character adds a special challenge to pairing these beer with food.
Which led to a great idea for a tasting and food pairing evening. So, Sherbrooke Liquor, Gini’s Restaurant and I are teaming up for our second specialty beer and food pairing evening (following last year’s highly successful Cantillon evening). Five oak-aged beer will be paired with specially designed four taste-size dishes. The evening will be hosted by yours truly.
Here are the details as we know them:
Saturday March 19
7:00 pm
Gini’s Restaurant (10706 – 142 Street)
Tickets: $50 (available at Sherbrooke Liquor)
Seating is limited
As of today, I have not finalized the beer line-up (more sampling to do, damn!), which means the dishes have not yet been worked out yet either. I will try to offer more detail closer to the event. I just wanted to get the word out there right away.
I am looking forward to it. I think the array of oak-aged beer possible will be quite tantalizing.

Hello,
please can you tell me which beers you tasted, and which taste-size dishes you paired to the beers?
