This past week saw my latest Vue Weekly review run, on Squamish B.C. brewery Howe Sound Rail Ale Nut Brown. I like their imposing 1-litre swing-top bottle, which will come in handy when bottling my next batch of homebrew. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this beer. It turned out to be a fairly assertive version of a brown ale, with nut, toffee and dark fruit notes and an unexpected, pleasant roastiness in the linger. It almost seems like a brown porter to me. At any rate it has tweaked my curiousity about their other offerings available in Alberta. So there may be other Howe Sound posts in the future.

Great site! Congratulations on getting this up and running and kudos to you for showcasing lesser-known breweries, with little to no resources for advertising, who rely on word of mouth and community support. I look forward to the articles/blogs and have no doubt there will be giggles as well as great information about one of Canada’s favourite pastimes: “Beer, eh!”
